While in Seattle, I had the chance to go out to Anacortes, where my good friend Coleman got us a ride from Anacortes to Friday Harbor on San Juan Island aboard the Joshua. Not knowing much about boats, it is hard for me to describe what a beautiful piece of art this boat is- I loved the wood burning stove, where we got to cook up some fresh prawns. The captain, Bill, was setting off for a four month journey up through Canada and into the Inside Passage in his wooden sailboat. Being a mountain girl, I am intrigued and captivated by the sea. In this short one day trip we saw seals, dolphins and bald eagles. I can only imagine the encounters with nature and the experiences Bill will have along his way. Thanks, Bill (and Coleman) and I hope to come aboard again someday soon!
